ABOUT ME
Hello—I'm James, an English journalist in Copenhagen.
For years, I’ve reported from Scandinavia for media outlets like the BBC, Deutsche Welle, the Guardian, and the New York Times.
I look for little-told stories about interesting people, places, and ideas—such as the Danish school whose teaching style resembles Dungeons & Dragons, the world’s first amateur manned space programme, and the rise of DIY skateparks in Copenhagen.
Since 2015, I’ve edited and ghostwritten several non-fiction books and manuscripts for authors and publishers in northern Europe.
As a brand journalist, I’ve helped numerous Scandinavian organisations build their brand, tell their story, and engage their audience through original editorial content.
For example, I’ve produced, edited, and hosted popular podcasts for tech start-ups, innovation labs, and corporations.
I’ve also produced strategic editorial content and owned media for local and regional tourism boards, NGOs, and start-ups.
Last but not least, I produce and host Archipelago—an acclaimed podcast about Danish arts, culture, and ideas.
In other words, I know what makes a good story, how to tell it well, and which format suits it best.
